Pasta in McCormick Creamy Garlic Sauce and Tuna

I personally think that instant food is awesome. A lot of times, with just the slightest bit of effort, you can easily punch up something instant and come up with a really nice dish. One of our favorite instant food ingredients is McCormick's line of instant powdered pasta sauces. Granted, you can simply follow the instructions on the packet and you'd end up with something ok. Or you could try out the following recipe instead. It's really yummy and it only takes about 15 minutes to prepare.

Here's how we did it...

Ingredients:
  • 2 medium onions sliced
  • 1 large bell pepper minced
  • 1 can of tuna in brine drained
  • 1 large can of sliced mushrooms (reserve the water from the mushrooms)
  • 250ml of all purpose cream
  • 1 pack of McCormick creamy garlic instant pasta sauce
  • 300gm of pasta cooked al dente
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil for frying

Procedure:
  • Sautee onions in olive oil until translucent.
  • Add the tuna and the mushrooms.
  • Cook on low heat for about 5 minutes with constant stirring.
  • Add the reserved water from the canned mushrooms, mix in the cream and the McCormick instant pasta sauce.
  • Keep stirring until the McCormick instant pasta sauce is completely dissolved.
  • Add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Throw in the minced bell pepper.
  • Cover the pan and let simmer for another 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
  • Serve on top of freshly cooked pasta.

See? Wasn't that easy? Next time we'll post how to punch up instant pancit canton!

Bon appetit!
