Conti's - MakanMakan - Harbor View (My Birthday Nomnoms)

It crossed my mind to eat whatever I want to eat on my birthday last weekend. I was definitely missing all tomato-based dishes, I wanted chocolate and mocha cakes, I wanted to drink coffee, I wanted ice cream, I'm always craving for oily foods. But after weighing the pros and cons of my condition (pros: satisfying my cravings and feeling good for a little while, cons: acid reflux, heartburn and generally feeling awful afterward), I managed to stay disciplined and just ate the right kinds of food. I was thankful that I was able to get dishes that are healthy for me on these three restaurants we dined in last weekend:

Johnny Chow @ Resorts World

It was the eve of my birthday and the day Pops was heading back to the US. We were shopping at Resorts World when we decided to take a break and have a hearty late lunch. We chose Johnny Chow (at the 2/F of Newport Mall) because the place looked festive enough, Pops can smoke and we got interested with the waitresses donning blonde wigs and cosplay-like costumes. ^_^

Anyway, we picked the right restaurant because Johnny Chow serves all sorts of Asian dishes which we love. They also give complementary pot of tea and refillable bowl of steamed peanuts.

Golden Bay Fresh Seafood Restaurant

It was by accident that we found this huge and colorful Chinese restaurant along Diosdado Macapagal on Valentine's evening. We didn't have anything planned. We just came from a long weekend stay at Mandarin Oriental and we couldn't get any table at any nearby restaurant so we decided to head home until we saw a colorful building from afar with bright flickering lights. We checked it out and voila --- after 10 minutes of waiting, they had an available table for us. It was really a blessing! We were able to have a proper Valentine's dinner celebration and some of the dishes were really awesome!

Passion Restaurant: a Taste of Chinese Fusion Food

After watching the astounding preview of KAOS at Resorts World Manila's New Performing Arts Theater, we were led to Passion Restaurant for some scrumptious dinner. The first time we ate there, I wasn't that impressed with their version of Chinese food; it was a bit bland compared to what I'm used to. This time around though, the dishes served to us tasted much better. Maybe, I'm just not a fan of dumplings, the food that we had before. It's a blessing that this time, they served us other amazing dishes which were more agreeable to our taste. Too bad we didn't get the names of the dishes but we'll try our best to describe them here.

Appetizers

Glazed pork, beef and chicken and duck with seaweeds on the side - This was from their barbecue sampler. They're tender, sweet and so far our favorite among all the dishes we have tasted so far.

A Taste of Passion Restaurant @ Resorts World Manila

We got to taste some of the delightful Chinese dishes offered at Passion Restaurant located inside Resorts World Manila last Nov. 4, 2010.

We were there for the launch of Grand Fiesta Manila 2010 and the Grand Fiesta run 2010. We arrived quite late so we didn't get to taste the many dim sums and dumplings offered that evening. Here are the dishes we did get to try...
