Halfmoon Cafe: Infuckingcredible Bibingcrepe and Nomnoms

While portmanteaus such as "jeggings" and "skorts" suck horribly, most of the time, portmanteaus are actually pretty damn awesome. In fact, some of the most amazing things are portmanteaus!

Sporks!
Sharktopus!

Philosoraptor!

Pedobear! If you haven't been able to guess yet, I absofuckinglutely love portmanteaus. I mean, you take two (or more) ordinary things, you combine them and make them far more incredible than just the sum of their parts. Which leads us to last Tuesday, when Jen and I found ourselves in Halfmoon Asian Cafe, home of one of the coolest portmanteaus out there, the bibingcrepe, one part bibingka, one part crepe, all parts awesome!

The bibingcrepe has the same fluffiness of the traditional Filipino delicacy and the creamy goodness of the French pancake. According to Gilette Garcia, the VP for operations of Halfmoon Asian Cafe, (and the Bluewater Day spa! AND 55 Events Place! Seriously this guy is so boss!) they are the first to come up with the concept of the bibingcrepe because of their desire to offer something fresh and innovative to their customers.

Lunch #2 at Zenz Restaurant at Mines View Park Hotel

Finally, here's the last set of wonderful, palatable, tasty (and free) dishes that were served during our short stay at Mines View Park Hotel. I tried not to eat much coz I was already feeling so bloated. But because everything was so yummy, aside from the strawberry sinigang, I also had a bit of the other dishes that were served:

chopsuey
I liked the way they prepared this dish. The vegetables were crunchy and not overcooked. It also has a buttery taste to it. Loved it!

fried bangus with garlic sauce
Since I already had bangus the day before, I didn't eat much of this dish. It was very delicious though. I'll make sure to order this dish when I come back here next time.

crispy fried chicken
This fried chicken was crunchy indeed! I could never get enough of it! *burp*

bibingcrepe
I am actually craving for bibingcrepe right now as I write this review. I guess that says something about this unique culinary dish that's very exclusive to HalfMoon Cafe. Yummy!

Bon appetit!

The Making of HalfMoon BibingCrepe

HalfMoon Cafe is the coffee and food place affiliated with Mines View Park Hotel in Baguio. During our visit there the other day, we bloggers were taught how to make this fantastic bibingcrepe, an exclusive culinary offering of HalfMoon Cafe. Let me summarize the steps:

heat the pan grill

pour the batter and let it bubble

lather a bit of butter and sprinkle with a bit of sugar after bubble appears

take it out of the pan

put your desired toppings (choco sprinkles, mallows, cheese, condense milk)

cut it in half and lay one half on top of the other

slice it into bite size pieces
I super loved it! You can make it as sweet, fluffy, and cheesy as you like!

Bon appetit!
