I discovered these three Indian dishes (Chicken Jalfrezi, Cheese Naan and Daal) when Jem and I dined at a Muslim restaurant in Ho Chi Minh. Jem was a vegetarian at that time (she's now a vegan) and Halal-certified restaurants were some of the places that offered food she can eat.
So what's so special about these three Indian dishes?
Chicken Jalfrezi is a dish with a lot of vegetables and herbs I really like. The chopped chicken bits are coated with cumin, ground coriander and turmeric while the sauce contains onions, green chilli, garlic and tomatoes.
Looking at the ingredients alone, we can already tell how nutritious these dishes are. Let's take cumin for example. Did you know that recent lab tests suggest that cumin has anti-cancer properties? It also has antiseptic properties that can relieve cold, cure stomach upset and heals digestive disorders. Cumin also increases body temperature thereby increasing metabolism as well. It's no wonder that my friend Jem is so fit and slim. She loves cumin and I think I ought to start adding cumin to my diet too. ^_^
Oh, and one more thing... I was surprised to discover that these Indian vegetarian dishes tasted scrumptious too.
